SAMPLE TEXT

Earth - Present Time

‘Long and black were the shadows cast by the setting sun nesting like a dwindling fire in the scaffolding at the end of the darkening alley way. Carey hated with good reason this narrow shortcut to her rented town apartment, the recent disappearance of her friend Madeline was traced by the police back to this very alley, but Carey, was not one for giving in to fear, tonight she was determined to be home for seven and at her scheduled meeting at eight, her career depended on it. This was a turning point, an opportunity to finally accomplish what she had dreamed of all her remembered life. She pulled up the collar of her sea blue leather raincoat to retain the warmth her brisk step generated. The icy drizzling rain ran down the soaked ringlets of her auburn hair and onto her drenched neck. She shivered against the penetrating cold and increased her pace, aiming for the broken exit gate at the end of the alley.'

Her brisk steps echoed down the glistening red brick walls until she finally reached out her shivering hand to the broken rusted gate latch, with a sigh of relief she gave it a heavy yank only to see in dismay the wooden gate slam hard against a jammed piece of steel scaffolding. In anguish, Carey immediately dropped to the her knees to pull at the unexpected hindrance to her safe exit, and with the sound of the hustle and bustle of the adjacent street only metres away, she wrestled with the wet cold steel as thoughts of her friend’s unknown fate filled her mind with violent images of her imagined end. On hearing the sound of laughter of two men striding by, she opened her mouth to scream for help, but instead of hearing her own voice she felt the cold rubbery grip of a hand around her face.’
